Day 3 October 31


                                                                



                                                                  Happy Halloween!




Language:
Today students wrote their own Halloween story. Some students chose to write scary stories and others funny ones. Students were asked to include a introduction, allot of detail, and a conclusion. Students were also asked to use their transition words First, Then, Next, and Finally. 









Math:
Today students got a brief introduction into symmetry. Students were then given half a monster and asked to draw the other half and then colour it to complete the monster. Students were also give a colour by number worksheet to work on. Students had to solve the addition or subtraction problem in order to figure out what colour to use.

Students today practiced our Christmas concert song, Let it Snow.

House Games:
At the end of the day today we had some house games. Students had to wrap a teacher up in toilet paper. Zeta won! We also did the best costume contest.

Day 2 Tuesday October 30



Note about Halloween:

This Wednesday is Halloween and I am excited to see the students in their costumes. Please remember that students are not allowed to have any scary face paint, wear a mask of any sort, or bring weapons to school. Please save these things for the evening when they go trick or treating. 


Inquiry into Language:
Today students practiced writing a recount in letter format. As a class we read the book, 
Students then pretended they were one of the characters Carson and they wrote a letter to Elsie telling her what they did on their way to come visit her. 








Math:
Today we started our new unit of grids and maps. Students learned how to move up, down, left, and right. We completed pg.136 in our workbooks as a class. We said that when explaining how they are moving of the grid they need to write in complete sentences. Ex: Move 6 squares up, Move 4 squares right.





Inquiry into Migration:
Today students continued researching the country they chose to migrate to. 




Library:
Today at the library students had time to exchange their books and read quietly.

Day 1 October 29

Note about Halloween:

Inquiry into Language:
Students wrote their spelling words in their agenda. Students then worked on pg. 34-36 in their workbooks. Students are practicing how to identify words that make the long "I" sound.






Math:
Today students wrote their Unit 5 test.

Inquiry into Migration:
Today students were told that they had to migrate to another country. Students were asked to choose a country to migrate to from the list: Brazil, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Nigeria, Egypt, and Belgium. Students were put into groups and they were each given a booklet to help guide them with their research. Students were asked to look at the flag, language, food, weather, and national anthem.
