Ms. V was at the dome today helping with the Christmas concert practice. During this time we visited the book fair one last time and then did some Go Noodle in the classroom.

Math:
Today we worked on a subtraction strategy. 
Ex. 11-8 - start at 8 and see how many you have to add until you get to ten (you need 2 more). Then you see how many more you need to make 11 (1 more). Finally you add 2+1 to get your answer.

Christmas Concert Preparation:

We made jingle bell bracelets to wear during the concert.

Day 4 Thursday November 28

Language:
Today students were asked to write the instructions to a game. We read an example of how to play Hide and Go Seek.

Students were then asked to pick their own game and write instructions on how to play the game.

Math:
We continued to work on our addition strategies today. We focussed on adding doubles and making ten then adding the left overs. We also used ten frames to help us.

UOI:
We read this book today to start helping us understand what Hannukah is.

We learned what about the Menorah, Dreidel, Star of David, Latkes, and Yamaka.

Day 3 Wednesday November 27

Language:
Today students completed the last page of their report card. Students wrote down something they did well on, something they would like to improve on for next term, and something they enjoyed doing this term.

They also picked three pieces of work to put into their IB binders. Students chose something they did their best on, something they tried their hardest on, and something they could improve on.

Math:
Today we started our new unit. We learned how to find patterns in an addition chart. Below are some of the terms we learned.

 We then completed pg. 28 as a class and students completed pg. 29 on their own.

UOI:
Today we introduced our new unit Cultural celebrations around the world. I told students that we will be focussing on Diwali, Christmas, Hanukkah, Chinese New Year, and Kwanza. Students then wrote down something they know about one of these celebrations and then something they would like to know. We added these to our wonder wall.
