​Grade 6 Exhibition group, we would like to remind all youth at St. Jude​'​Academy about Prime Minister Trudeau's address yesterday morning (Sunday, March 29, 2020). Mr. Trudeau spoke directly to youth, citing that mental support for any youth with anxious or isolated thoughts and feelings ​are available. There are trained professionals offered through ​Kids ​Help ​Phone:

For those concerned about seniors such as grandparents, friends, etc. there is assistance like meal delivery and health checks via other channels.

Students will learn how to write a persuasive advertisement

Success Criteria:
-I can explain what a persuasive advertisement is.
-I can write a persuasive advertisement.
- I use persuasive language in my advertisement.
-I have an introduction, body and conclusion.
-I used my sentence starters.

Instructions:
-Students will watch a video, 
-Students will then be asked to write an advertisement for one of their favourite toys. Students will brainstorm first. Using the graphic organizer provided and answer these questions.
1.     Introduce the product. What does it look like, how does it work? What does the packaging look like? What comes in the package?
2.     Why should other people like it?
3.     Where can you buy it? How much does it cost?




-Students will use their rough copy and feedback from yesterday to write a good copy of their advertisement.
-Students can draw a picture of their toy when they are finished.

 Students will learn about the measurement the Litre

Success Criteria:
-I can explain what capacity is.
-I understand what a Litre is
-I can measure liquid using Litres.
-I know that 4 glasses are in one Litre.

Instructions:

-Review the definition of capacity. "How much liquid a container holds"
-One Litre fills 4 glasses of water. Therefore 4 glasses=1L
-They will then complete two pages of their workbook.

Reflection:
Learning Goal: Students will learn how to write a book report for a fiction story of their choice.

Success Criteria:
-I can identify a fiction book
-I can read a book
-I can identify the author and title of my book
-I can identify the genre of my book
-I can name and describe the main characters
-I can describe the setting
-I can identify the main conflict and describe how it was solved
-I write in my neatest cursive

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Since we are all learning how to use SeeSaw today, I thought it would be a good idea to relax and take some time for ourselves today. We will be doing Yoga today to relax our bodies and minds, focus on our breathing and be mindful with ourselves. You may choose to do one of the following activities:
  
Yoga in the Hive

Cosmic Kids Yoga – Kickapoo the Kangaroo

HOMEWORK: Think of an activity that you would like to master while learning from home. It must be something involving physical fitness. We will work on these goals throughout the next couple of weeks. I will be asking for responses throughout the week.
Examples:
  • Dribble a soccer ball
  • Jump rope
  • Do a cartwheel
  • Balance on one foot for 30 seconds
