Day 5 Friday May 31



The St. Jude's Academy Mock Trial team has been invited to participate at an International Empire Mock Trial competition in New York! Language:
Today students wrote their spelling test. 

Math:
Today we reviewed what perimeter is and how to calculate it. Students then practiced finding the perimeter of shapes using metres. Students also practiced identifying when they would use centimetres and when they would use metres.




UOI:
Students who were away yesterday presented their summative assignments. 

Art: 
Today students painted their fractured art pieces and on Monday they will put them together.

Day 4 Thursday May 30

Today students did a practice persuasive advertisement for their OWA which they will write on Monday.



Students also learned about internet safety from the grade six's









Math:
Today students learned how to calculate the perimeter of shapes using centimetre graph paper and a ruler.




UOI: 
Today students presented their summative assignments.

Day 3 Wednesday May 29

Language:
Today students continue to prepare for their upcoming Ontarios Writing Assessment. We reviewed all the important components of a persuasive advertisement and brainstormed some arguments they could use in their writing. Students then finished writing their plan for selling their monsters and went on to writing the good copy of their persuasive advertisement.





Math:
Today students learned about the Kilometre. Students learned that their is 1000 metres in 1km. We talked about some examples of when we would use kilometres to measure something and we said that we usually use kilometres when we are traveling to another place that is farther away.

UOI: 
Today students finished up their summative projects and practiced presenting their projects to their peers for their presentations tomorrow. Students are bringing home their summative to practice  please make sure that there are no changes and that students bring their projects back tomorrow.

Day 2 Tuesday May 28

Language:
Today reviewed the important components of a persuasive advertisement. An engaging introduction, three reasons with examples to go with each, and a conclusion.

 Students were asked to choose a monster and write a persuasive advertisement trying to sell their monster to someone. Student's started to work on their plans today and tomorrow they will complete their plans and write their good copies.



Math:
Today students learned and practiced how to measure things in metres and centimetres.
