Day 2 Tuesday April 30



Agenda:
-Sign and return spelling test
-Math test Friday
-Story for spelling homework Due Friday (using all 15 spelling words.)
-Practice for Art's Night
-We are leaving at 9:00 am tomorrow for the Dome 


Art's Night: 
Today we were at the Dome both in the morning and afternoon practicing for Art's Night. Please continue to have students practice the sign language at home using their right hand.

UOI:
Today we started a new unit looking at endangered and extinct animals. Students's completed some different food chains and identified predators.

Math: 
Today students learned about mass and identifying items that would be measured in Kilograms.

Day 1 Monday April 29


For students attending the Silent Dance tomorrow:
-Students may wear casual clothes
-Students will receive a slice of pizza and juice. (Please look to see if you have ordered lunch for tomorrow. If you have please send a empty container and I will put the lunch you have ordered in the container.)
-Students may also bring change to purchase treats while at the dance

Language:
Today students worked in their spelling work books.



This week students will not be writing a spelling test because we are practicing for Art's night. Student's will instead write a story in their green notebooks using all 15 of these words.

Math:
Today we continued to explore capacity. We focused on identifying objects who's capacity can be measured in millilitres. Student's also learned that there are 1000 mL in 1 L.

UOI into structures: 
Today students chose some of their work from our structures unit to put into their IB binders.
-something they did their best on.
-something they did well on.
-something they can improve on.

Today students wrote their spelling test and finished their good copy of their letter to the Pigeon trying to convince him to go to bed. 


Math:
Today students learned what capacity was. They learned how to identify the capacity of items using the measurement litres.

Today students put the finishing touches on their structures. Students then reflected on their building process.

Students then planned a letter to persuade the the pigeon to go to bed. Students will write the good copy of their letter tomorrow.

Today students continued to work on adding and subtracting money.

UOI into Structures:
Students continued to build their structures. Groups who had finished wrote down what changes they made to their original plan and why they made these changes.

Today students continued to practice adding money and making change.

UOI into structures:
Today students started to build their structures for their summative assignment. Students are trying to build a structure that will protect Humpty Dumpty when Mr. Nahi throws him off the roof.

Today we read the book,

We then brainstormed some ways we could help the earth and students made these.




Math:
Today we practiced adding money. We started by grouping similar coins so it would be easier for us to skip count. We then added all our dollars and cents.

UOI:
Today Students got together in their groups to begin their summative assessments. Students drew and labelled a diagram of their structure to help Humpty Dumpty survive the fall. They made a list of materials they will need to collect and bring to school tomorrow. Please make sure that students bring back their packages tomorrow. Don't worry if you do not have all the items on the students list I can supply what ever else is needed tomorrow.
