Day 2 Thursday December 20


Congratulations to our Communicator winner!
 Language: Today students wrote their spelling test.

We finished decorating our door today. I am very proud of all the hard work students put in. It looks great!


This afternoon we enjoyed some treats. (Thank you to those of you who sent some in students really enjoyed them. ) We then went and watched a movie with Ms. Hughes-Smiths class.

Students also participated in a candy cane house game this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. See you all next year !

Day 6 Tuesday December 18

-Casual day tomorrow
-Bake sale Wednesday and Thursday
-Christmas spirit day Thursday
-Treat and Movie day Thursday.
-Library books due Thursday










Language: 
Today students wrote an explanation on how to make a snowman. We brainstormed as a class and then students completed their explanations in their journals.





Math:
Today we continued to practice the subtraction strategy we learned yesterday. We did an example together on the board then students solved 8 questions on their own in their math journals.








We had a great time watching our peers preform today at the Christmas concert.

Day 5 Monday December 17

**Choir Members are to wear Christmas colours tomorrow.****

-We will be walking to watch the grades 3-8 concert tomorrow. Please make sure students are dressed warmly. (jacket, boots, hat, scarf, and gloves.)
-Bake Sale Wednesday and Thursday.
-Casual Day Wednesday.
-Christmas spirit day Thursday.




Language: Students wrote their spelling words in their agendas and then worked on pg. 62-64 in their workbooks.



 Math: Today students learned a new Subtraction strategy, subtracting tens the ones. This strategy is the exact same as the addition strategy students learned last week but instead of adding they are now subtracting.

We did an example together on the board. Students found it tricky to take away groups of ten. (counting back by ten)


 Students then practiced this strategy by completing pg. 42 in their workbooks.






 We also had some time today to start decorating our door for the contest taking place on Thursday.

UOI into Cultures: 
Today students read their books about Hanukkah and started to answer some comprehension questions.

Everyone enjoyed the day we spent at the Benares Historic House learning about different winter traditions.
