Language:
Students wrote their spelling test. When finished they had time to finish their simple machines book from yesterday.

Math:
Today students continued to learn how to tell time on a analog clock to the nearest 5-minute mark.
We talked about how to properly read a clock – go around by 5’s starting at the 1.
The small hand is the hour hand it uses the numbers on the inside of the clock (if the small hand is pointing in the middle of two numbers it is always the smaller number)
The big hand is the minute hand it uses the 5’s on the outside of the clock.

We also used clock manipulatives to help us. We did some examples together on the board. Students then practiced their new skills answering questions on a worksheet provided.

Jump rope for heart:
Students went to the Dome to do some skipping.

Students read the book,

They were then told that they are going to design their own Leprechaun trap containing at least one simple machine. Students were asked to draw and label a detailed diagram of their trap and make a list of materials they will need to build their trap.

Students will be building their trap in class next week for their summative assignment. They will be brining their diagram and list of materials home with them this weekend. Please ensure that both the package and materials come back to school with the students on Monday.
