Day 4 Tuesday September 18, 2018

Inquiry into Language:
Today we reviewed what an adjective is. "An adjective describes a noun." We said that when we describe something we are describing how it looks, feels, smells, tastes, and sounds. We then came up with a list of adjectives.

After students got a picture of an ice cream cone and asked to write down adjectives to describe their ice cream cones. Students were asked to have 1-2 adjectives for how it looks, smells, tastes, feels, and sounds.

Math:
Today students continued working on base ten depictions, base ten name and in words.
Students worked on pages 16&17 in their workbooks.

Inquiry into Citizenship:
Today we learned what voting was and some of the history around voting. We watched a video called, The Right to Vote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mr-93C176qI

After watching the video talked about what voting was, the history of voting, and how to vote. Everyone was interested in learning about the different groups of people that were not allowed to vote of the years.(Women, African Americas, Indigenous people) Students were then each given a ballot and voted for whether they think we should keep learning math or stop. With an overwhelming amount of votes the class decided that we should continue with our math lessons. This was very nice to see.

Daily five:
Today we did the writing portion of our hand activity.  We were asked to complete the sentence given to us. "I can make a difference in the world by.........." We then gave some examples of what we could write.  Students then wrote down how they could make a difference in the world. This will be place together with their hands on a piece of construction paper.
