Day 2 Wednesday January 16

French: https://mmerawansja.blogspot.com

Language:

Today we talked about what it means to be a Risk Taker. We used the explanation we have in our classroom, "I have courage to try new things. I try to solve problems in many different ways. I am determined and resourceful when facing challenges and change."

We then read a story:
We then brainstormed how to define what a risk taker is and some examples of risks students could take.
We then filled out a worksheet for our IB binders.

Math:
Today students worked on addition and subtraction using front end estimation by rounding to the nearest 100.

Step1- round your first number
Step2- round your second number
Step3- add or subtract
*reminder 50 or higher round up, 49 or less stays the same.

Reflection:
Today we listened to some speeches to get an idea of how ours sound in comparison to others. We went over time limits and things we could add to make them longer (Author, title of the book, engaging introduction and conclusion.)

We also talked about some things to remember when presenting; use expression, talk loud and clear, do not fidget, and do not walk around while talking.

Gym:
Ms. Yustin was sick today so we did not have gym. Instead we started sketching our artifacts.

UOI:
Today we watched a short video to learn different sketching techniques such as hatching, cross hatching, circulism, and contour lines. We also learned about light and dark and spaced out and dense.

We then sketched the outline of our artifact and chose two different techniques to shade it in.

Library:
Today students had some time to choose a new book.
