Today students listened to chapter two of our novel study Horrible Harry and the Holidaze. Then as a class we answered the comprehension questions. We focused on answering the questions in complete sentences.
Math:
Today students continued to work on 3 digit subtraction using the strategy base ten blocks. Students learned a slightly different strategy. Student's are welcomed to use the strategy from today or yesterday.
Step 1- make you first number.
Step 2- take away your second number.
*reminder start at the ones, do you have enough? Not then trade in a ten for ten ones and then take away, yes then take away and move on to tens, do you have enough tens? No then trade in a hundred for ten tens then take away, yes then take away and move on to hundreds.

UOI into Cultures:
Today students found out what animal year they were born in. We then read our horoscope and discussed what we found to be similar to us and we found to be different.
Students that completed early were able to work on a Chinese New Year word search using our new learned vocabulary from this holiday.
