Day 5 Tuesday November 13

Inquiry into Language:
Today we talked about what kindness means and how to show it. We then read the book,

Students were able to identify some things that the boy did that were unkind and things the ant did that were kind. Students then wrote an act of kindness that they could preform throughout the day on a heart and decorated it.

Students were also given a strip of paper and asked to write down what kindness means to them. Students then said the pledge of kindness.

Science Fair:
Today students finished writing down our procedure, hypothesis, findings, and materials to put on our board. We then continued to glue everything on. We also talked about what students were going to do and say during the judging on Friday.

Inquiry into Migration:
Today students were told that there was someone who was new to Canada and that he had left his jacket and all his important documents on the playground and he needed our help to find them. So both our class and Ms. Hughes-Smith class went on a scavenger hunt around the playground to go find them.

Students found his jacket, passport, a postcard he had written to his friend, a plane ticket, and a student visa. As a grade we talked about who Mustafa is, where he came from, what were his push and pull factors for immigrating, what mode of transportation he used, and how he might of felt. Students used all the clues on the documents to help them with these answers.
Students then started working in their workbooks writing down Mustafa's story.
