Day 1 November 6, 2018

Inquiry into Language:
Today students wrote their pre-assessment for their next OWA unit, Explanations. Students were asked to pretend they were building a robot. Students had to describe the robot, what it does, and how it works. Students had allot of fun with this writing prompt and are interested to see what we do next in this unit.

Math:
Students continued to learn how to Slide/Translate an object on a grid. We practiced identifying what is and is not a slide together on the board.

Then students completed pg. 282-283 in their textbooks.

Inquiry into Migration:
We took this time today to start our Science fair experiment. We are creating Frankenworms. Today We talked about the steps we needed take in order to complete the experiment. We then talked about what a Hypothesis was and made some of our own.
We then completed the experiment to see what would happen.

Unfortunately the worms did not float or dance today but the vinegar did get very fizzy when we placed the gummy worms in. As a class we discussed what we think we need to do tomorrow so that we can get our gummy worms to dance. Students decided that we need to put in 6-7 spoons of baking soda instead of the three spoons we used today. We will check in with you tomorrow to let you know what happened.
