Day 3 Thursday November 8

******Aftercare Invoices are due on Thursday November 15th! *********

Inquiry into Language:
Today students wrote their spelling tests.

Math:
Today students continued to learn about rotations. Students reviewed what a rotation is, it is when you turn a object on a grid. Students reviewed that they can rotate an object clockwise or counter clockwise. Students also reviewed what a full, half, quarter, and three quarter turn looks like. To help students with their  understanding we used cut out shapes an graph paper on the board. Students came up to the board and were asked to make a specific turn. For example, "Show me a three quarter turn clockwise." Students then had to move the ruler on the clock to complete the turn.

We then completed pg. 287 in the students textbooks as a class. We spent allot of time today getting into the habit of using the correct terminology. For example; turning point, counter clockwise, clockwise, half turn, full turn, three quarter turn, quarter turn.
Students then completed pg. 288# 2-3 on their own.

Inquiry into Migration:
We took this time today to talk about Remembrance day that is coming up on Sunday. As a class we read the poem, Little Poppy and watched some videos to learn about what the poppy symbolizes. In one of the videos we learned that today is the day where we remember the First Nations soldiers who fought in the war.
