Day 1 Wednesday February 20

The bus will be leaving at 9:00 am tomorrow please make sure students arrive at school before this. Students are required to wear their full dress uniform.

Language: Today students completed their explanation about Sparky the robot dog to help prepare them for their Ontario Writing assessment tomorrow.

Math:
Today students used attribute blocks to help them make other shapes. Students also made some cool pictures with their shapes.

UOI into Simple Machines:
Today students learned about wheels and axels. Students watched a short video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIV9IUHqW3A.

We then read some information about how they work.

Students then worked as a class to try and build their own simple machine with our tinker toys. Students created a machine with 4 axels and 8 wheels taped to a book. They then put a pencil case on top of it and they were able to push it across the room.

Action

WHAT IS ACTION?

Many people think that Action is easy to define. It is something you do, right? But Action is much more than that. Action is a part of who we are. If we want to change the world we need to start with changing ourselves. But sometimes change is hard. How do we make changes to the way we think so we can help the world?

If we want children to make a difference in the world we need to help them personalize the action they take, and understand that it is not just a mandate from their teachers and parents, but a life long mindset they develop.

Taking action can happen at any age. It’s all about how we as parents, educators, and the community, support children and youth as they begin the learning journey towards becoming adults that are change agents!
