Day 3 Thursday June 6

Please be at school by 8:15 tomorrow morning. We made a last minute decision on uniforms so please make sure students wear their GYM uniforms tomorrow. Students should have a small back pack with a disposable lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and money if they would like to get something from the gift shop. (Students might get time to go the gift shop it is not guaranteed.)

Today students completed their pg. 138-140 in their spelling work books.

Math:
Today we continued to work on finding the Area of different shapes. Today we used two steps to count how many squares there were inside the shape. We first counted how many full squares there were then we counted how many half squares there were. We learned that 2 half squares make a whole so we added the halves together. We then added both totals together to get the total Area.

Today students wrote their final Ontario Writing Assessment. Students were asked to write an advertisement about a new candy that persuades the reader to buy the candy.

Math:
Today students learned how to calculate the Area of a shape. Students learned what Area was and the formula for Area. We then calculated the Area of a rectangle together as a class.

Students then practiced finding the area of given shapes using square units.

Today we had a few students present their summative assignments then students chose three pieces of work from this unit to put into their IB binders.
